February Fund Raising Appeal
Helping Bring a Public Defibrillator to Our Penrith Branch
This February, our team at Penrith Building Society is coming together to raise funds for something that could truly make a difference, a publicly accessible defibrillator outside our Penrith branch.
In an emergency, every second counts. Having a defibrillator in a central, accessible location could help save lives, and we’re proud to be working towards providing one for our local community.
To support the appeal, colleagues are getting involved in a range of feel-good fundraising activities, including:
- Selling handmade hearts in branch
- Hosting a Wear Red week
- Taking on a Heartbeat Challenge, rowing 100,000 metres together at Strength and Fitness Gym, our neighbours on Thursday 26th February from 8am
It’s been a lovely way for our team to come together, have a bit of fun, and support a really important cause.
You can support our February defibrillator appeal by donating via our fundraising page
How to Get Involved
If you’d like to support our February fundraising, there are a couple of simple ways to get involved:
• Purchase a handmade heart in branch — available throughout February, with all proceeds going towards the defibrillator.
• Join our Heartbeat Rowing Challenge — if you’d like to take part in our team effort to row 100,000 metres on Thursday 26th February, please email marketing@penrithbs.co.uk and we’ll happily share the details.
Every heart purchased and every metre rowed helps us move one step closer to installing a defibrillator for our community.
Supporting Local Causes All Year Round
Supporting local causes is at the heart of what we do at Penrith Building Society. Each month, our colleague engagement team awards £250 to a local charity or good cause, helping organisations continue their valuable work across our community. Recent beneficiaries include 4Eden, The Firefighters Charity, and the Cumbria Police Dogs Benevolent Fund.
We also love getting involved ourselves. Our colleagues’ fundraising efforts have included everything from walking the Derwentwater Way for Eden Animal Rescue to cycling 100 miles on a Concept2 bike erg in branch for Future Proof Cumbria, all supported by our employee donation-matching scheme, which matches donations up to £250 per person.
We’re proud to support individuals and groups in our local area too. From helping Baz Harper, a Penrith resident, reach the World Sprint Triathlon Championships, to supporting Ashleigh Reed, a local community staff nurse, running the Great North Run for Cancer Research UK, we’re always happy to play a small part in big local efforts. We also support local sports clubs such as Penrith Pumas, helping with travel costs for their matches.
If your organisation, group, or local project could benefit from support, we’d love to hear from you.
